We will be able to perceive that the hardships we are going through right now are evidence that God is treating us like sons when we can understand that just as a father who withholds his rod dislikes his son, while the one who loves his child relentlessly disciplines him. What father would not enforce discipline on his son?
Colossians 3:20 – God acknowledges and appreciates respect towards parents.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

Paul makes it quite apparent that there are fundamental rules for every family member, including the kids, when he describes proper behavior in a Christian home.
This instruction to “be submissive to your parents in all respects, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord” does not exempt a kid from having non-Christian parents because the Lord has promised to grant His abundant grace to everyone who trusts in Him.
Deuteronomy 21:18-21 – Parents are responsible for raising and disciplining their offspring.
“If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and, though they discipline him, will not listen to them, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gate of the place where he lives, and they shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This our son is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones. So you shall purge the evil from your midst, and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

The Bible acknowledges the rights and obligations of the family members in this verse. In addition to teaching and training their children, parents are responsible for raising and disciplining their offspring.
However, parents also have the right to ask the community for help if a child starts to act rebelliously and disrespectfully.

Paul here gives instructions to fathers. Paul deliberately chooses to speak to fathers about their responsibilities. It’s far too simple for fathers to delegate parenting duties to moms instead of taking care of our kids ourselves.
A child can be provoked by being unjust and favoring one youngster over another, whether out of laziness or on purpose. It can result from nagging without offering assistance or from unreserved censure, degrading remarks, or jokes told at their expense.
Paul urges fathers to understand that they have a specific duty to their offspring and that this duty must be taken seriously.
Proverbs 30:17 – God detests disrespect.
The eye that mocks a father and scorns to obey a mother will be picked out by the ravens of the valley and eaten by the vultures.

Children first come into contact with parents while they are young. Kids will disrespect other authority figures if they do not learn to respect and obey their parents. Therefore, even parents who face shame should result in punishment.
