When Jesus was crucified, one of the Malefactors that was crucified with Jesus said unto him, “if thou be Christ, save yourself and us,” but the other person rebuked him for saying such to Jesus.

Then the other person asked Jesus to remember him in his paradise, then Jesus Christ assured him that he would be him in Heaven, where there would be no more pain. So the robber who was crucified to death got an eternal life on the Cross with Jesus because he requested it; we have to always pray to God to have mercy on us and take us to his Heaven with him.
