Bible verses about sleep and laziness
There is no doubt about it; some people are much more tired than others. And this is normal. What isn’t normal, however, is when sleep becomes a problem for you – or even an obsession that gets in the way of other things. So to help you break free from this cycle and regain your life back on track, I will share more Bible verses about sleep and laziness below.
Proverbs 19:15 – Sleep and laziness begat excuses.
Laziness brings on deep sleep, and the shiftless go hungry.
Proverbs 19:15
This Bible verse makes us understand that whoever loves sleep is a lazy person who always comes up with excuses. No manna from heaven will feed you when you wake up from sleep. Therefore if you always sleep, according to the Scripture, you will always be hungry.
Proverbs 20:13 – Sleep and laziness breed poverty.
Do not love sleep or you will grow poor; stay awake and you will have food to spare.
Proverbs 20:13
The portion makes us understand that there will be no food for a lazy man. If you are the type that loves sleep, you will grow old and have no tangible thing to show for it. But when you stay awake and work and make yourself useful, you will have enough food on your table and even more to share with people.
Proverbs 10:4 – Laziness and Sleep attract poverty.
Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.
Proverbs 10:4
Whoever is lazy will always be poor because wealth will not come knocking on the door for you. But when you are hardworking, you attract wealth. Laziness and sleep are the leading cause of poverty. Laziness is the inability to work hard, which is also perilous because it can lead to laziness. Laziness can cause you to lose your job, making you poor.
Sleep is also very dangerous because we lose part of our lives when we sleep. We lose time that we could have spent working on something important or doing something else that would help us become successful in this world. Therefore, sleep is one of the biggest enemies of prosperity.
To be successful, stop being lazy and start working hard.
Proverbs 12:24 – Laziness and stagnation.
Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor.
Proverbs 12:24
The Bible makes us understand that a Man who is diligent in his work will stand before Kings; a lazy man can not stand before Kings because he has nothing to show. You have to work hard because hard work takes you to different places, but laziness makes you stagnant.
No outstanding person is lazy; wealthy people always work hard even when they are rich, while poor ones will always labor by force. thank
Proverbs 12:27 – The lazy depends on remnants.
The lazy do not roast[a] any game,
but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.Proverbs 12:27
This shows us that a lazy person can not achieve anything in life. When you are lazy, you depend on people for support. But a hardworking and diligent person will always have more than enough from the work of his hand.
A hardworking person will always have to feed on and even remain, but a lesson person will depend on people’s remnants to survive.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 – The handiwork of the devil.
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
2 Thessalonians 3:10
The Bible says that laziness is a master stroke for the devil. If you can get people lazy, they will be easy prey for the devil. Here’s what Paul said: “For we are not like so many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 2:1-2)
The Bible says we are a church of God that Jesus Christ builds up through his Spirit. But some people think they’re better than others because they aren’t as active or aren’t as involved in church events as they should be. They may even think they’re too busy to read their Bibles.
These people are already part of the body of Christ; they don’t realize it! They’ve been given all their spiritual gifts from God, but their laziness and lack of commitment have kept them from using them for what God wants them to do with them.
Proverbs 6:6 – Sleep less and work more.
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!Proverbs 6:6
The Lord has created all the raw materials we need to make life comfortable; all we have to do is make use of these materials and establish food for ourselves. But, unfortunately, if you are lazy, you won’t be able to use these things God created for us.
Even animals make use of raw materials God has given us and earn a living, and we have to be wise, sleep less and work more to use what God has given us. There is no excuse to be poor despite your background or story; strive to be wealthy in a good way.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 – There is a little time.
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom
Ecclesiastes 9:10
Whatever we find ourselves doing, do it excellently and avoid sleeping when you are supposed to work. There is time for everything, and we must obey the time for working so we don’t perish in hunger.
Sleep is a gift from God to give us peace and rest. Therefore, it is a good thing to sleep. The only problem is that we are lazy when we are sleeping. Laziness is a curse from God to prevent us from serving Him in His creation. It is terrible to be lazy because it prevents us from doing good things for God’s creation.
Proverbs 10:5 – Sleep and wisdom.
He who gathers crops in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.
Proverbs 10:5
This Scripture shows us that there is seed time and harvest. In seed time, an hardworking person plans his seed, waiting for the harvesting period. But he who sleeps during seed time will be hungry because he didn’t work when it was time to work.
Proverbs 26:16 – Laziness and excuses.
The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.
Proverbs 26:16
This shows us that a hard-working person can be better because he works hard than people who only go around to give excuses. A wise person works hard always and finds a possible solution to problems, but a lazy person makes excuses for things.
Ecclesiastes 10:18 – Idleness and laziness.
Through laziness, the rafters sag; because of idle hands, the house leaks.
.Ecclesiastes 10:18
A lazy person allows his house to be destroyed, but a wise man will always look after his home and build it.
A lazy Man’s house cannot be compared to a hardworking person’s, and a lazy man will be asleep while the hardworking Man will always put his house together and care for it to avoid breaking down.
Proverbs 28:19 – Poverty and laziness.
He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.
Proverbs 28:19
This portion opens our eyes to see that a man that makes use of his and works for a better tomorrow will have enough food, but he that is lazy will always be poor.
When you are hardworking, you will have plenty of food, but when you don’t, because of laziness, you will live on begging people for bread.
Psalms 76:5 – Sleeping to emptiness.
The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.
Psalms 76:5
The Bible has taught us always to be awake and pray because the days are evil. A lazy Man sleeps, always not minding the danger, hunger, and other things ahead of time. When you are awake and watchful, you will avoid several things coming to you.

Proverbs 6:9-12
How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man. A troublemaker and a villain, who goes about with a corrupt mouth,
Proverbs 6:9-12
This Scripture shows us that you cannot sleep forever because hunger will come knocking on your door. There is time to wake up and work; a little slumber is not inadequate but doesn’t oversleep.
Always do anything you want to avoid poverty coming to you when you didn’t expect it.
Psalms 132:4
I will not give sleep to mine eyes, [or] slumber to mine eyelids,
Psalms 132:4
This Scripture is a vow David made that he won’t allow sleep or slumber to be near his eyes because he had plans to fulfill. So when you have your plans and make up your mind with determination, sleep or slumber will not be an excuse to reach your high point. David didn’t give up no matter his many works and didn’t sleep and make reasons.
Psalms 121:4
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
Psalms 121:4 (KJV)
This Scripture shows us that God that keeps us doesn’t sleep or even slumber because he loves us. He always keeps his ear open and listens to our cries whenever we call on him.
We, as his believers, should always emulate him in everything. This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t sleep, but we should always use our time wisely. There is time to rest and time to work.
Isaiah 40:28
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.
Isaiah 40:28 ESV
This Scripture shows us that the Lord God is the one who reigns forever; he doesn’t get tired at any time. Therefore, his work is continuous and everlasting. His wisdom cannot be compared to anyone.
